KSCR invests US$18 million in its Laredo Branch

The American railroad, Kansas City Southern Railway Company (KCSR) reported that is investing approximately US$18 million in construction and improvement projects from its Laredo Branch, in Tamaulipas, Mexico to its Corpus Christi, Texas U.S. facilities.

This will help increase its capacity, as well as maintaining and improving its network´s border security, the Company explained. The work on the Laredo subdivision is expected to be finished by mid-April; the project includes the installation of 80,000 railway sleepers, replacement of approximately six miles of rail, improvements in about 177 railroad crossings, and strengthen steel structures in the Laredo International Bridge. In addition to Laredo and Corpus Christi, this renovation also reaches the municipalities of: Realitos, San Diego, Alice, Agua Dulce, Banquete and Robstown.
