TIJUANA – According to Confederación Patronal de la República Mexicana (Coparmex) in Tijuana, at least 52% of the works in the city are assigned to construction companies from other states in the country.
The president of Cámara Mexicana de la Industria de la Construcción (CMIC) Tijuana delegation, Gabriel Valenzuela Moreno, mentioned that local governments should make it easier for the builders of the entity, as they have enough capacity to deal with projects that are executed in the state.
Valenzuela Moreno, warned that the requirement of the agency is that the authorities give preference to local companies in the allocation of public works, in addition to better management and more transparency in the scheme of Asociaciones Público-Privadas (APP).
The executive mentioned as well that since the last legislation, builders have been struggling to modify the public works law, in order to obtain advantage for local companies, considering unfair that foreign companies that don’t pay taxes in the region get the works.
