SAN DIEGO, CA – The County of San Diego Office of Emergency Services is asking residents to participate in the consultation for the development of emergency plans to be finalized by May 2022.
Citizens will be able to submit comments and suggestions from a survey that will be provided for their input to be included in the Operational Area Emergency Operations Plan and the Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan.
These plans cover hazards such as earthquakes, floods, fires, tsunamis and even terrorist attacks. One of the projects also identifies risks and objectives to minimize the impacts of natural and man-made disasters.
Both plans were last reviewed in 2018 and are currently being analyzed to reflect changes in current operations and capabilities.
The county reported that the survey is available in six languages, English, Spanish, Tagalog, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Arabic, and Vietnamese.
Also, the comments will be added to the Office of Emergency Services’ two plans for coordinating response to major emergencies and disasters. The goal is to further protect residents, their property and the environment.
Survey comments are due by May 1. In addition, it was reported that residents who choose to include their email address in the survey will be invited to attend a virtual forum next Monday, May 23, where the results will be reviewed and residents will be offered the opportunity to provide additional feedback on the plans.
