LAREDO, TX – A branch of Chick-fil-A Marketplace was inaugurated at the Laredo International Airport, occupying a location on the second floor of the passenger terminal.
The City of Laredo said the facility is open to the public and is located in what was formerly occupied by Hertz-Rent-A Car. During the opening ceremony, city leaders including Mayor Pete Saenz and Councilmembers Alberto Torres, Jr. and Ruben Gutierrez, Jr. praised the airport and Chick-fil-A staff for their efforts to create better experiences for travelers passing through the terminal.
Others who participated in the ceremony were interim airport director Gilberto Sanchez and Chick-fil-A restaurant operator Marty Speer.
Last May 2, 2022, the Laredo City Council approved a motion for the City to execute a Food Service Agreement between Laredo International Airport and Chick-fil-A Marketplace to provide prepared food items for lunch and unbranded beverages.
As announced, the new location will be open Monday through Saturday from 6:00 AM to 7:30 PM for all travelers. Previously, the airport only provided food and beverages through vending machines. While the lease will last for one year, with an option to renew.
With the goal of improving the traveler experience, Laredo International Airport is continually working on its Terminal Improvement Program, which involves an expansion and reconfiguration of the building on the north side of the facility.
The improvement project includes the relocation and expansion of the TSA Security Screening Checkpoint (SSCP), modernization of the existing passenger terminal, remodeling and extension of restrooms, a dedicated meet and greet area, a nursing mothers’ lounge and adult changing room, as well as a concession space with new restaurants.
