TUCSON, AZ – The Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED) recently presented the City of Tucson’s Office of Economic Initiatives with the Gold Prospector Award to recognize excellence, innovation and creativity in the region.
The award focuses on recognizing not only innovation, but economic development at an annual forum held during the fall in Maricopa County. Specifically, the Tucson Office of Economic Initiatives won the Gold Prospector for Marketing Brochure.
The brochure was developed in 2021 with the goal of creating something up-to-date, concise and consistent with its economic development brand as presented on the ConnectTucson website that launched in early 2020. The document speaks to both the lifestyle and economic development environment of the community and frames the community as a city in harmony.
According to Barbra Coffee, director of Tucson Economic Initiatives, the brochure highlights the city’s accolades and includes testimonials from local business leaders. “I am thrilled that our brochure has been recognized by AAED as a successful marketing tool. It’s a great way to get our message out about the terrific economic development opportunities in Tucson,” she said.
The Golden Prospector Awards were created more than 20 years ago to recognize excellence in economic development. AAED received 36 nominations from across the state for the 2022 awards.
The Tucson Office of Economic Initiatives coordinates the city’s economic development programs with the goal of attracting jobs and investment; it also provides assistance to local small businesses and entrepreneurs and encourages workforce development to promote a sustainable and diverse local economy over the long term.
