TUCSON, AZ – The City of Tucson Office of Economic Initiatives announced that registration is open for the fourth annual Arizona SheTech Explorer Day.
SheTech is a free event for high school girls, featuring hands-on STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) activities alongside professional women from diverse backgrounds and industries. The goal is to activate, engage and inspire local high school girls to become interested in these types of careers.
The theme of this year’s event is Space To Be Great! SheTech Explorer Day will be held on March 1, 2023, at the Tucson Convention Center, with hours from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The convention is held in partnership with the Pima County School Superintendent’s Office. This year, the event will attract 300 high school girls from across the region to connect with industry professionals and higher education partners to solve problems and explore STEM careers.
Activities will include workshops, exhibits and guest speakers. According to Barbra Coffee, director of Economic Initiatives for the City of Tucson, SheTech is a great way to prepare young women for the jobs of the future.
“By participating in learning experiences with local tech industry experts, students will gain skills and confidence to pursue STEM careers, which are in high demand,” Coffee said.
SheTech Explorer Day sponsors include Cox, Comcast, Pima Community College, Center for the Future of Arizona and the Tucson branch of AAUW (American Association of University Women).
