LAS CRUCES, NM – The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT), in coordination with the City of Las Cruces, will be rehabilitating U.S. Highway 70, so starting Jan. 23, the roadway will be closed and caution is advised.
The NMDOT District One office, in cooperation with Mountain States Construction, Inc. announced the U.S. Highway 70 rehabilitation project from milepost 143, the junction of Interstate 10 and U.S. 70, to milepost 161 in Organ.
Mountain States Construction was founded in 1964, by Henry A. Stamschror and after more than five decades, the company continues to be recognized as a strong, quality-oriented general contractor in commercial, industrial, institutional and heavy construction.
According to the company, public involvement allows them to keep up with new challenges and methods while maintaining relationships with agencies.
This rehabilitation project will consist of a $7.2 million investment and is expected to take 220 working days to complete, weather permitting.
Beginning Monday, January 23, 2023, motorists can expect several lane closures throughout the day at NASA and Del Rey Boulevard due to roadway milling and paving interchanges.
The City of Las Cruces reported that each intersection is expected to take three to four days to complete. Mountain States Construction’s hours of operation, will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
NMDOT asked motorists to use caution to maintain the safety of travelers and workers during the work.
