ARIZONA – Ecobat, a world leader in battery recycling, announced that it is building its third lithium-ion battery recycling plant and the first in North America, in the state of Arizona.
The new plant will be located in the city of Casa Grande and will initially produce about 10,000 tons of recycled material per year, with plans to expand capacity to meet the growing need for lithium-ion battery recycling.
Eventually, the Casa Grande plant will create more than 60 new jobs, the Arizona Commerce Authority reported.

This facility, like those in Germany and the United Kingdom, represents an important milestone in Ecobat’s strategy to grow our lithium-ion battery recycling business to a scale, similar to our world-leading lead-acid battery recycling business,” stated Marcus Randolph, CEO of Ecobat.
Ecobat Casa Grande will reuse end-of-life lithium-ion batteries by diagnosing, sorting, shredding and separating materials to produce a concentrated black mass containing the valuable lithium-ion battery materials.
The plant will be located approximately one mile from the existing Ecobat Resources Arizona facility, which has been manufacturing anodes for 15 years with state-of-the-art technology and a highly skilled workforce. Start-up is scheduled for the third quarter of this year.
The company reported that it maintains notable certifications from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in environmental, health and safety, quality and energy management systems. The company’s expansion into the North American market reinforces its commitment to providing sustainable second-life recycling solutions for advanced battery technology.
