YUMA, AZ – The Greater Yuma Economic Development Association announced that Cali Fame of Los Angeles recently opened its third plant in the United States, located in the city of Yuma, Arizona.
The company currently has 25 full-time employees with the plan to expand its workforce by 2023. The cost of doing business along with abundant labor and access to major markets drove the decision to expand in Yuma.
The new Yuma location will help Cali Fame grow its ever-expanding customer base throughout the United States. The company is a national manufacturer of private label and nationally branded apparel proudly Made In America.
Cali Fame of Los Angeles began as “Chicago Hat Company,” manufacturing dress, sports, military and athletic apparel. The name was changed to “Cali Fame of Los Angeles” in 1946, when the company relocated from Chicago, Illinois, to Los Angeles, California.
Shortly after moving to Southern California, Cali Fame added golf caps to its product range. In 1962 the company was sold to a sportswear manufacturer and in 1977 the current family took over.
According to the company’s website, the company has an initial commitment to keeping creativity fresh and modern, while aiming to provide superior customer service and attention to shoppers’ needs.
Cali Fame’s arrival in Yuma follows the recent opening of Somerton Manufacturing, a company specializing in the manufacture of marine hardware for commercial vessels worldwide.
Somerton Manufacturing acquired a 50,000 square foot facility in the city of Somerton, located 10.9 miles from Yuma to begin production. They currently have 16 full-time employees with plans to expand their production and workforce in 2023.
