BROWNSVILLE, TX – The Brownsville Board of Public Utilities (BPUB) has been recognized by the American Public Power Association (APPA) with the Diamond designation of Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) for providing safe and reliable electric service to its customers.
With the new distinction, BPUB has now received the RP3 designation four times, previously receiving a Platinum in 2014 and Diamond in 2017 and 2020.
The RP3 designation, which lasts for three years, recognizes energy utilities that demonstrate competence in four key areas: reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement. BPUB is one of 275 companies in the United States to receive the recognition.
“We are honored to receive the RP3 designation from the American Public Power Association,” said Marilyn Gilbert, General Manager and CEO of BPUB. “This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our employees who work tirelessly to provide safe and reliable electric service to our customers.”
BPUB has a long history of providing safe and reliable electric service to the Brownsville community. The utility is committed to investing in its infrastructure and workforce to ensure it can continue to provide high-quality service for years to come.
“Reliability is at the heart of what we do at BPUB,” Gilbert said. “We know our customers rely on us to keep their lights on and we take that responsibility very seriously. We will continue to work hard every day to maintain the highest standards of service for our community.”
