NEW MEXICO – The Scale Up New Mexico program, funded in part by the U.S. Economic Development Administration and housed at New Mexico State University’s (NMSU) Arrowhead Center, will offer an online TechSprint accelerator to tech startups in the state.
The university reported that TechSprint is seeking entrepreneurs and startups located in New Mexico to apply for the free accelerator, which will take place July 13 through Aug. 17. While the application deadline is June 30, and selected participants will be notified on July 5.
TechSprint is one of several Scale Up NM initiatives, and comprises several startup support programs for the development of early-stage technology companies. The program expands on existing Arrowhead Center resources such as Sprint Venture Accelerators, Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer assistance and commercialization support.
“Our Sprint model fosters collaboration between entrepreneurs and stakeholders, which allows for smoother integration into the entrepreneurial ecosystem and establishes valuable connections for potential investments,” said Dana Catron, deputy director of the Arrowhead Center.
The accelerator program is designed for founders of technology companies, providing guidance on technology market validation. The program emphasizes crucial aspects such as customer discovery, market awareness, commercial potential and attracting investor funding. TechSprint includes presentations, interactive discussions, valuable feedback, goal setting and mentoring by industry experts. To accelerate the traction of participating startups, each session is supported by a minimum of three mentors and advisors specializing in technology development, commercialization and capital raising.
In addition, each participant will have access to weekly one-on-one meetings with an Arrowhead team member or mentor who will provide personalized assistance and address individual questions and concerns.
Advisors and mentors include accomplished entrepreneurs, experienced operators, angel and venture investors, and world-renowned scientists, engineers and economists.
To be eligible to participate in TechSprint, startups must be based in or planning to relocate to New Mexico. Participants must also be available to attend a weekly two-hour virtual session for the duration of the initiative and to meet and work on technology-based innovation.
