MCCALLEN, TX – More than US$1.6 million have been generated by recent conferences and events held in the city of McAllen, according to the Chamber of Commerce, which noted that the Texas community has long been known for its rich cultural heritage and captivating attractions.
Behind the scenes, the McAllen Chamber’s Tourism Department’s Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) has played a key role in driving the city’s economic growth.
In June, the CVB successfully hosted three major events, the 128th Annual Texas Association of County and District Clerks Annual Summer Conference, the State Firefighters and Fire Chiefs Association 2023 Annual Conference and Delta Kappa Gamma’s 94th TSO 2023 Convention.
These events generated an estimated economic impact of $1,649,375 and attracted 1,575 attendees, cementing McAllen’s status as a premier destination for both business and leisure travelers.
The Chamber of Commerce indicated that the impact of hosting major conferences goes far beyond the immediate influx of visitors. The economic ripple effect is considerable and positively affects multiple sectors of the community. Hotels, restaurants, transportation services and retail establishments experience an increase in customers, which translates into higher revenues and job creation.
In addition, the Department of Tourism offers a wide range of services to meeting planners, ensuring a smooth and satisfying event experience.
