The German company Kurtz-Ersa laid the first stone of its new Latin American plant in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua.
The machinery manufacturer will expand its global production capabilities by establishing a new production plant in the border city. According to the company, the major investment in northern Mexico reflects its commitment to meeting growing market demands and strengthening its presence in the Americas.
The company said that with rapid growth in the Americas, the new production facility will better serve local customers, as well as minimize the company’s CO2 footprint, shorten delivery times and reduce freight costs.
The new production facility is expected to start operations in spring 2024. Together with its existing logistics and service centers in Plymouth (Wisconsin, USA) and Guadalajara (Mexico), Juarez will become the third major logistics and service center, further enhancing capabilities in the region.
With the expansion also comes a transfer of know-how from Europe to Mexico, so that in future – also thanks to the growing Mexican team – even more competent support for Kurtz Ersa’s customers will be guaranteed.
The new production plant in Juarez will play a key role in the manufacture of Ersa welding machines and will also serve as a pre-production center for the Kurtz factory in the USA.
Initially, the plant will focus on the manufacture of Ersa HOTFLOW reflow soldering systems. The expansion will create Kurtz Ersa’s third largest manufacturing facility, after Germany and China, and will contribute significantly to the company’s global production capacity.
“Mexico was chosen as the ideal location for this expansion because of its strategic advantages,” said Albrecht Beck, President and COO of Kurtz Ersa, Inc.
“Its central location on the border provides excellent access and facilitates access to strong local markets in the Americas. In addition, Mexico has a highly skilled and motivated workforce to maintain our high German quality standards in a modern state-of-the-art factory,” added Beck.
