ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Mexico’s Ambassador to the United States, Esteban Moctezuma Barragan, is making a working visit to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to promote friendship and cooperation in support of migrants, and to strengthen political and commercial relations.
The visit takes place from August 2-4, where the Ambassador will be accompanied by the Consul of Mexico in that city, Norma Ang, to participate in various activities and meetings with local leaders, businessmen and representatives of the Mexican community in New Mexico.
A highlight of the visit will be Ambassador Moctezuma’s participation as one of the keynote speakers at the 2023 National Convention of LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens), the oldest Hispanic organization in the United States. In his speech, he will address the evolution, challenges and opportunities of the bilateral relationship, coinciding with the commemoration of 200 years of diplomatic ties.
In addition, the Ambassador will hold a meeting with Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller and other local officials to discuss issues of interest to Mexico and its migrant community in the region. He will also meet with business leaders from the Albuquerque Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to promote the advantages of trade with Mexico under the T-MEC and value chains.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) explained that an essential component of Ambassador Moctezuma’s work agenda will be to visit the facilities of the Mexican Consulate, where he will meet with members of the Mexican community, leaders and representatives of community organizations to learn first-hand about their concerns and needs.
According to the ambassador, the visit seeks to reaffirm the ties of friendship and cooperation between Mexico and New Mexico, as well as to promote the contributions of the migrant community to the development of the region.
