COAHUILA – The Secretary of Economy of Coahuila, Claudio Bres, met in Austin with Caroline Mays, Director of Planning of the Texas Department of Transportation, and Claudia Lagos, Director of International Crossing Planning, in order to strengthen commercial ties and review works and projects for the benefit of both borders.
During the meeting, both Coahuila and Texas presented the progress in the border infrastructure works that are being carried out and the projects to improve the international economic exchange between the two states.
The meeting was also attended by Rolando Salinas, Mayor of Eagle Pass; Morris Libson, President of the Border Economic Council; and Homero Balderas, Director of Puentes.
Bres Garza described the meeting as productive, since the progress of the work on Bridges 1 and 2 in Piedras Negras was presented, as well as the need to speed up the permits from the United States so that the work on the expansion of Bridge 2 can begin as soon as possible in Eagle Pass, Texas.
Likewise, the head of Economy of Coahuila informed Caroline Mays the request for the expansion of an additional railroad track between Eagle Pass and Piedras Negras, to increase the number of crossings and provide better service in time and form to the export companies, as well as the project to expand the toll booths on Bridge 1.
Caroline Mays reiterated her willingness to work in coordination with the Government of Coahuila and committed to review and expedite the issues discussed at this meeting.
In addition, it was agreed to hold a meeting with businessmen in Saltillo to present the studies already completed on the highway infrastructure that Texas is developing, in anticipation of the growth in exports in the following years. This meeting will be held on September 26th.
