TEXAS – Texas government announced the opening of a new application category for the Tourism Industry Recovery Grant (TTIR) program through the Office of Economic Development and Tourism beginning Sept. 1 through Sept. 15.
“The travel and tourism industry plays a critical role in Texas’ booming economy. As we continue to welcome new visitors across this great state every day, we want to ensure continued post-Pandemic recovery for local businesses in travel, tourism and hospitality,” said Gov. Greg Abbott.
According to Texas officials, the new application category for the Travel Industry Grant Recovery Program will create more opportunities for workers and for businesses in all regions of the state.
Under Senate Bill 30, signed into law by Governor Abbott this year, each approved program applicant can now receive up to $250,000 in total from the TTIR program. Applicants who received a grant during Categories 1-5 may reapply for funding under Category 6.
Those who have previously received funding are eligible for up to $250K in total funding, which includes the amount of their previous award.
Applicants must submit supporting documents with their application to demonstrate compliance with grant and eligibility requirements.
The Governor signed Senate Bill 8 into law in 2021 establishing the TTIR grant program to administer $180 million from the Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Fund under the American Recovery Plan Act of 2021.
Beginning September 1 through September 15, 2023, a new application category for the Texas Tourism Industry Recovery (TTIR) Grant Program will open.
The TTIR Program was established to provide one-time reimbursement grants for the recovery of Texas businesses in the tourism, travel and hospitality industries that were adversely affected due to COVID-19. These one-time grants are to reimburse eligible costs to these qualifying businesses.
