BROWNSVILLE, TX – The City of Brownsville has opened the BTX Health Center to provide preventive care to city employees. The center offers a wide range of services, including minor medical needs, health and wellness education, behavioral health awareness, nutritional counseling, chronic disease and resource education, as well as culinary instruction classes.
“The City of Brownsville is committed to the health and wellness of its employees,” said City Manager Helen Ramirez, AICP. “The BTX Health Center provides a convenient and accessible place for employees to receive the care they need to stay healthy and productive.”
Dr. Art Rodriguez, Director of the Department of Public Health, explained that the BTX Health Center is a response to lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic. “The pandemic taught us that health is essential to individual and collective prosperity,” Rodriguez said. “The BTX Health Center is designed to help city employees stay healthy and prevent disease.”
The BTX Health Center is located at 1325 E. Ringgold Street and is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Employees can book appointments online.
Public Health Analyst Arely Hernandez said the BTX Health Center is designed to be accessible and convenient for employees. “The appointment booking process is simple and services are available on a schedule that accommodates most employees,” Hernandez said.
The BTX Health Center is poised to positively impact the health and wellness of City of Brownsville employees, fostering a healthier and more productive workforce.
