TAMAULIPAS – The Secretary of Economy of Tamaulipas, Ninfa Cantú Deándar, participated in a meeting with executives of the Australian company Woodside Energy Trión, as well as executives of the company SBM Offshore to explore investment opportunities in the energy sector in the state.
The purpose of the meeting was to explore investment opportunities in the energy sector, mainly in the municipality of Altamira, which has an important potential and leadership at a national level, according to the official.
Woodside is a company that will invest 11,679 million dollars to extract oil in the Trion field, located in the Folded Belt some 180 kilometers off the coast of Tamaulipas. SBM Offshore is a company specialized in the design, production and marketing of marine systems and equipment for the oil and gas industry.
At the meeting, Cantú Deándar highlighted the fruitful collaboration between the company and the state and municipal governments to explore new development opportunities that contribute to creating greater well-being in Tamaulipas.
“Since the announcement made by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Governor Américo Villarreal, the Ministry of Economy has maintained contact with Woodside representatives to promote a joint agenda to support the development of the project and detonate the associated economic activities in the region, with the objective of incorporating Tamaulipas labor, as well as promoting the supply of local companies,” said the secretary.
Cantú pointed out that of the 87 projects confirmed for the different regions of Tamaulipas, Altamira and the south of the state have 14, which represent a joint investment of 4,853 million dollars and the potential generation of 1,971 jobs.
