BROWNSVILLE, TX – Sustainable Horizons Institute (SHI) has distinguished the City of Brownsville as one of the most innovative cities in Texas.
According to the Brownsville City Council, the recognition comes after an exhaustive review of IT projects and roadmaps submitted by cities across the state, showcasing Brownsville’s leading edge in innovation, resilience and a firm commitment to improving community services.
Amid stiff competition, Brownsville distinguished itself as a beacon of innovation. The city’s cutting-edge technology projects and their strategic implementation have not only transformed local services, but also significantly improved the community.
SHI’s award highlights the remarkable strides made by Brownsville and underscores the city’s role as a model of technological advancement and excellence in public service, the City Council noted.
“This recognition is a testament to the hard work, creativity and forward thinking of our city team,” said Helen Ramirez, AICP, Brownsville City Manager. “It underscores our dedication to leveraging technology to improve our community. We are not only being recognized for what we have accomplished, but also for the exciting path we are charting for the future.”
Brownsville’s portfolio of projects includes smart infrastructure advancements, digital inclusion initiatives and sustainable development programs, which together have improved the quality of life for its residents.
