JUAREZ, CHIH – With an investment of approximately US40 million, Wistron NeWeb Corporation (WNC) opened a new plant in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua.
The Taiwanese communications technology company was founded in 1996 and is currently recognized for its trajectory in the development of advanced solutions in broadband, mobile, multimedia and Internet of Things (IoT) products.
Wistron assured that the opening of the new plant marks a milestone in its history of innovation and global expansion. The arrival of the industrial building in Ciudad Juarez represents its first production operations outside Asia.
The new plant is located at 7151 Rosa María y Fuentes Street, in the Las Fuentes industrial park, and the opening event was attended by authorities from the municipality of Juárez, the Chihuahua State Government, as well as representatives of business and industrial organizations from Juárez, El Paso and New Mexico.
During the opening ceremony, it was emphasized that the choice of Ciudad Juarez for this expansion was a reflection of the admiration for the key role of this city in the manufacturing industry in Mexico, in addition to having highly trained personnel in logistics.
The ceremony was attended by Jeffrey Gau, President and CEO of WNC; Armando Cheng, General Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Mexico; Fernando Alba, Undersecretary of Mining, Industry and Energy of the Ministry of Innovation and Economic Development (SIDE); Hector Ortiz Orpinel, Secretary of the City Council of Ciudad Juarez, Sergio Colin, President of INDEX Juarez and Arch Chen, representative of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce.
