ASIA – A Baja California delegation integrated by representatives of the economic promotion agencies ProBaja Trade & Investment, academic institutions and the Ministry of Economy and Innovation (SEI), presented to Toyota executives, the state’s capabilities for the expansion of operations and the development of new projects.
The above, during a working tour in Asia, where the head of the SEI, thanked the President of Toyota Motor Mexico, Luis Lozano, for accompanying the delegation on their agenda that included a tour of the Motomachi plant and a visit to the Kaikan museum with its manufacturing exhibits, hybrid technology, its collection of automobiles and safety simulators.
Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Baja California has been operating its plant in the state since 2002, where it produces the Tacoma vehicle and pickup boxes for the North American market.
In another point of the agenda, the University of Tsukuba was visited to strengthen collaboration in the development of high value talent demanded by the economic and strategic sectors of Baja California, such as electronic semiconductors and aerospace, for which the rector of the Technological University of Tijuana, the General Director of the Ibero Tijuana, Florentino Badial, Andrés Ruelas of Grupo Educativo 16 de Septiembre and the Director of the College of Engineering of Cetys Universidad actively participated.
“It was an honor to be received by the President of the University, Nagata Kyosuke, as well as the Vice President and Executive Director of Global Affairs, Ikeda Jun, the Head of International Strategy and Global Initiatives Bureau, Ohneda Osamu, and the head of the Global Initiatives Bureau, Sekimoto Keiko.
The university has a total of 28 colleges and schools with some 16,500 students and is the second largest campus in Japan in terms of campus size.
During the visit, the Mexican Ambassador to Japan, Melba Pría, who expressed her openness to be a bridge between Baja California and Asia, recognizing that it is the closest state to that continent, accompanied the visit. It is worth mentioning that the Embassy has areas of exports, investment and talent.
