ARIZONA – Arizona Lithium Limited held the official opening of its new Lithium Research Center in Tempe, Arizona.
The ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by federal and state government officials, as well as local economic development leaders, including the Arizona Commerce Authority, the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, key industry leaders such as Joe Lowry, President of Global Lithium, senior investment bankers, Arizona State University engineering professors and other stakeholders.
The Research Center focuses on technological advances in lithium processing and will advance the battery materials industry in Arizona. The facility includes a 20,451-square-foot R&D building, which includes a 3,982-square-foot research laboratory and a 16,469-square-foot lithium chemical processing plant.
In addition, the facility will create more than 20 highly skilled jobs and support the development of the Big Sandy project, which is expected to create hundreds of jobs in Wikieup, Arizona.
One of the objectives, is for the Lithium Research Center to function as a technology incubator focused on lithium extraction from both the Prairie Project in Saskatchewan and the Big Sandy Project in Arizona.
“We are very pleased to officially open the Lithium Research Centre (LRC). The facility has been operational for some time and has hosted government and industry leaders who have been very impressed with the LRC staff and operations. We have been overwhelmed by the support of the Arizona government and our event partner, the ACA. We strongly believe that the LRC is critical to the company’s ability to test and optimize our lithium processing technologies and ultimately produce lithium from our two major projects, Prairie and Big Sandy, in the most economical and sustainable manner,” said Paul Lloyd, CEO of Arizona Lithium.
“Arizona Lithium is coming to Tempe at a time when the Phoenix metropolitan area is becoming a national hub of activity in the battery sector,” said Chris Camacho, President and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council.
