SONORA – As part of the strategies to promote Sonora as an attractive destination with economic potential for foreign investment, Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño met with a delegation of 16 businessmen from Taiwan who visited the state.
During the meeting, the state governor explained the integral strategy in the state in economic matters, which is headed by the Sonora Sustainable Energy Plan.
In addition, the meeting marked a benchmark in the relations between Sonora and Taiwan. Representatives from Hsinchu Science Park and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) participated, as well as 11 companies from the electric-electronic, textile, plastic products and industrial equipment manufacturing sectors.
The state governor explained that this meeting is the result of a visit to Taiwan and the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the ITRI College in September last year.
“This visit was agreed upon during the promotional tour we made to Taiwan last year. We are very pleased, they are very important companies, whose information we are going to provide in detail, they are cutting-edge technological companies in all areas worldwide,” said Durazo.
The delegation of Taiwanese businessmen learned about Sonora’s competitive advantages in the electromobility and renewable energy generation sectors.
Governor Durazo Montaño explained that in 2023 Sonora was one of the leading states in attracting foreign direct investment on the northern border, with a total of 2,711 million dollars, placing it as the second largest FDI recipient in the country.
