CHIHUAHUA – As part of the collaboration between the Government of the State of Chihuahua and the William Davidson Institute (WDI) of the University of Michigan, authorities from the public and private sectors participated in a work agenda in the cities of Ann Arbor and Detroit, in the state of Michigan, with the objective of exchanging practices and tools to promote the transition of Chihuahua’s industry towards electromobility.
The delegation was composed of authorities from the Ministry of Innovation and Economic Development of Chihuahua (SIDE), through the Institute for the Support of Technological Development (INADET), the Institute for Innovation and Competitiveness (I2C) and Promotora para el Desarrollo Económico de Chihuahua (PRODECH). In addition to representatives from the Autonomous University of Chihuahua (UACH), the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juarez (UACJ), the Center for Research in Advanced Materials (CIMAV).
During the work agenda, the visitors had the opportunity to learn about the initiatives of the University of Michigan and the MCity facilities, as well as the Ann Arbor SPARK, a space that houses mobility technology startups.
In addition, the Chihuahua delegation visited the Michigan University Research Corridor, an academic cluster that fosters talent, research and economic revitalization in the U.S. state, and spoke with leaders of companies that implement electromobility to improve connectivity and transportation automation.
In this regard, they spoke with specialists and authorities about practices, programs and opportunities to promote entrepreneurship, innovation and the development of talent and technology, in addition to learning about the Global Mobility Epicenter, a multi-organizational initiative that seeks to build a prosperous future in mobility.
In Detroit, they toured the recently inaugurated Newlab and Michigan Central Station facilities, a global hub for innovation in mobility; and the TechTown entrepreneurship center, in addition to meeting with authorities from MICHAuto, Michigan’s automotive, mobility and technology cluster association.
Business leaders from organizations such as Autocluster Chihuahua, Desarrollo Económico de Chihuahua A.C. (DESEC), Desarrollo Económico de Ciudad Juárez (DECJ), Frente Norte and AMN International also participated in the tour.
