The Ministry of Tourism of Tamaulipas reached agreements with the consuls of San Antonio and Austin, Texas, to integrate strategies to strengthen border tourism. In addition, more than 50 business appointments were made and upcoming visits to the state were scheduled.
Within the framework of the Third Tianguis Internacional de Pueblos Mágicos, held in San Antonio, Texas, where 677 exhibitors from 27 states participated, as well as the magical towns and neighborhoods of the Mexican Republic, Tamaulipas presented its tourism, gastronomic and cultural offerings to more than 6,500 attendees.
Benjamín Hernández Rodríguez, Secretary of Tourism in Tamaulipas, highlighted that this was an invaluable opportunity to showcase the state’s tourism benefits.
“Tamaulipas showed from the work of the artisan hands of the people who work every day, to the enchiladas tultecas, performances of the folkloric ballet of the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas (UAT) and, of course, the wide range of tourism offerings,” said Hernandez.
Tour operators showed their interest in promoting Tamaulipas’ tourist destinations in their itineraries, focusing on the magical towns. In addition, agreements were reached with the states of Nuevo León, Oaxaca and Yucatán to develop tourist circuits and counteract the low tourism seasons with exchanges between both parties.
The international event generated business appointments with tour operators and travel agencies, which translates into an increase in visitors to the state, with a large economic benefit, as well as agreements to market handicraft products, among others.
