NEW MEXICO – A delegation from the Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua (UACH), held a meeting with the president of Western New Mexico University (WNMU), Joseph Shepard, with the objective of generating academic collaboration links, as well as in research, science and technology.
The agreement highlights the union of strategies in academic matters and scientific and technological coordination, as well as the opportunity to offer a double degree between both institutions.
Luis Rivera Campos, rector of UACH expressed the importance of formalizing international relations to collaborate in the university’s educational programs.
“We have great plans to work in a determined and fluid manner with WNMU, especially in the areas of economics and business administration, as well as in sharing research knowledge, since there are diverse topics of interest on both sides of the border,” commented Rivera.
For his part, WNMU President Joseph Shepard stated that this agreement was significant because of the importance of binational relations with Chihuahua, as the cultural history is shared directly with the state of New Mexico.
“Education and sharing science and technology do not require borders, so we must celebrate what we have in common,” said Shepard.
The agreement will not only benefit UACH students, as WNMU students will be able to engage in academic mobility in Chihuahua. Knowledge exchange and collaboration projects will also be programmed with research professors from both institutions, through seminars, conferences, workshops and other activities.
The meeting was also attended by the director of International Relations of the UACH, Lizza Solís Chávez, the director of the School of Accounting and Administration, Cristina Cabrera Ramos and the director of the School of Economics, Olinda Ornelas Benítez, as well as Santiago De las Casas Aguirre, International Relations advisor.
UACH’s collaboration is in addition to the agreements that the university has signed with other institutions in the United States, such as UTEP, City University of Seattle, NMSU, among others.
