TAMAULIPAS – Mexico’s northeast region is about to experience an unprecedented logistical transformation with the construction of a dry port in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas. This project, which will begin in 2025, has the potential to turn the region into a strategic node for national and international trade.
The dry port will be developed over a total area of 2,000 hectares, with the first phase covering 55 hectares. This initial stage includes the construction of warehouses and offices, essential elements for the proper operation of a logistics center of this magnitude. The estimated investment for this first phase amounts to US$500 million.
One of the highlights of the dry port will be the incorporation of a railroad spur, which will facilitate the transport of goods to the main urban and port centers. The project contemplates a partnership with Ferromex to build the railroad track that will connect the dry port with Monterrey and Tampico, optimizing the transfer of cargo.
The Government of Tamaulipas has also announced an additional investment of 600 million pesos to develop complementary infrastructure, including roads, electrification, and water and sewage services. These elements will be fundamental to ensure the success of the project and guarantee its operability.
The dry port is expected to start operations in 2027, which will significantly boost the local economy. Thousands of direct and indirect jobs are expected to be generated, in addition to attracting investments that will strengthen trade and industry in the region.
This dry port will not only improve the connectivity of northeastern Mexico, but will also establish Tamaulipas as a key logistics hub. With a strategic location and modern infrastructure, the project is destined to become an engine of economic development for the region and the entire country.
