WASHINGTON D. C – Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States and announced his first measures upon his return to power.
The inauguration ceremony marked the return to the White House of the Republican leader who already ruled the U.S. between 2017 and 2021.
The 78-year-old leader took the oath of office inside the Capitol – instead of outdoors on the steps, as is customary – due to the sub-zero temperatures in Washington DC.
“January 20, 2025 is the day of liberation,” he proclaimed in his first speech as president, and assured that he will sign a series of executive orders to begin what he called ”America’s golden era.”
He announced that he will declare a national emergency on the border with Mexico, that he will change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America” and “recover” the Panama Canal, something he had already said in previous weeks.
The ceremony was attended by world leaders, including Argentine President Javier Milei, as well as US multinational technology tycoons such as Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg.
