The Lebanese ambassador to Mexico, Sami Nmier, announced the interest of international consortiums to invest in Sonora, noting that the state represents a strategic destination for the expansion of companies dedicated to sectors such as clean energy.
During his visit, he also presented the project of the Lebanese Center of Sonora, which seeks to strengthen the cultural and economic exchange between both regions.
Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño highlighted that Sonora has gained national visibility in the development of renewable energies as a result of the promotion of Plan Sonora, a state strategy focused on infrastructure projects, foreign investment and sustainability.
Among the advantages that the state president pointed out are the port of Guaymas, the modernization of the Guaymas-Chihuahua highway, the state’s mining leadership and the works on the Bavispe-Nuevo Casas Grandes road, which seek to improve regional connectivity. He also referred to the development of San Carlos as a growing tourist destination, where new housing towers are already being built.
During his meeting with state authorities, Ambassador Nmier reiterated the interest of Lebanese businessmen in exploring opportunities in strategic sectors of the state and establishing lasting ties in cultural and economic matters.
