New Mexico allocates more than US$648,000 for job training

The New Mexico Department of Economic Development approved more than $648,000 in funding in May to support job training for 38 workers as part of its Job Training Incentive Program (JTIP). This initiative aims to boost job creation and facilitate business expansion in the state through wage subsidies and training support.

The program will cover between 50% and 90% of the wages of new employees for up to six months, in addition to funding the training of current staff through its Step Up modality. On this occasion, five of the seven beneficiary companies had previously participated, while AAA Cooper Transportation and Nuckolls Brewing Company joined for the first time.

Among the companies that will receive funding is Albuquerque-based AAA Cooper Transportation, which received up to $165,000 to train ten apprentices with an average wage of $34 per hour. Also in Albuquerque, BlackVe Inc. received more than $62,000 for the training of two apprentices; the company develops space capabilities applied to defense. Flow Aluminum Inc., which focuses on aluminum battery technologies, received nearly $74,000 for two apprentices and two interns.

Gridworks Inc., which is dedicated to clean energy infrastructure, received just over $4,000 to train two employees through the Step Up subprogram. In the field of artisanal production, Little Toad Creek LLC, a brewery and distillery located in Deming, received more than $85,000 for eight apprentices. Nuckolls Brewing Company, with operations in Angel Fire and expanding, received nearly $95,000 for six new workers. Finally, UbiQD Inc., a Los Alamos-based technology company specializing in quantum dots for agriculture and energy, received up to $161,000 for six apprentices, with an average salary of $49 per hour.

The JTIP program is part of the state’s efforts to strengthen the local economy through incentives for hiring and training personnel in strategic sectors.
