The Office of Technology and Innovation of the New Mexico Department of Economic Development launched two grant programs with a total budget of $5 million, aimed at strengthening technology commercialization and the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the state.
The first line of funding, with $2.5 million available, is aimed at Innovation Centers. This program seeks to develop, expand, or improve physical spaces that facilitate innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology transfer. Eligible projects include shared workspaces, laboratories, specialized equipment, and collaborative environments.
The second grant, also with a budget of $2.5 million, is intended for Programmatic Support for Entrepreneurship. This scheme covers the operational needs of organizations such as incubators, accelerators, and venture capital firms, with the aim of strengthening or expanding programs and services focused on innovation and technology commercialization.
Both funds will prioritize projects related to advanced computing, advanced energy, aerospace, and biosciences. Proposals may be submitted by one or more applicants and will be evaluated based on their soundness and the amount requested. All approved activities must be completed within a maximum of 12 months from the signing of the grant agreement.
The call for proposals will remain open until Monday, September 8, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. (Mountain Standard Time). Guidelines and application forms are available on the official website of the New Mexico Department of Economic Development.
As part of the process, two informational webinars will be held on Monday, August 18: one on the Innovation Center Grant at 1:00 p.m. and another on Programmatic Support for Entrepreneurship at 11:00 a.m. Registration for these sessions is available on the same website.
