El Paso Mayor, Renard Johnson and a city delegation toured the ReadyOne Industries facility on Ability Drive this week, gaining a firsthand look at the plant’s dual mission: manufacturing critical gear for the U.S. military while providing meaningful employment opportunities for people with significant disabilities.
The tour highlighted how the company integrates a high-volume production line for military uniforms and protective equipment with its core social objective. Guided by company leadership, the mayor’s team observed the manufacturing processes that meet strict U.S. military quality standards and learned about the inclusive employment model that defines the organization.
“The visit wasn’t just about production; it was about people,” a city spokesperson noted. “The mayor had the opportunity to speak with employees who shared how their work provides not just a paycheck, but a sense of purpose and contribution to both the community and the nation.”
The visit was led by Craig Wellons, President and CEO of ReadyOne Industries, and Ed Monarez, Chairman of the board. Wellons explained that the company’s success lies in merging operational efficiency with deep social responsibility, thereby strengthening the local workforce while fulfilling vital national defense contracts.
ReadyOne Industries has long been recognized for its focus on creating meaningful careers for people with disabilities, offering comprehensive training and development within its advanced garment manufacturing operation. The mayor’s visit underscored how this model successfully promotes workplace inclusion in El Paso while supporting a key institutional customer—the U.S. armed forces.
