Baja California formalizes commission to strengthen creative industries

The Baja California Inter-Secretarial Commission for Creative Industries was formally established with the aim of coordinating efforts between different state agencies and promoting the development of the sector.

The commission is chaired by the Secretary of Economy and Innovation, Kurt Ignacio Honold Morales, and includes the secretaries of Culture, Tourism, Labor and Social Welfare, Education, Finance, and Welfare, as well as the state Film Commission.

During the installation session, the structure of the Undersecretary of Creative Industries was presented, as well as the proposal to create Sectoral Commissions, programs under development, and the initiative for a National Congress of Creative Industries.

According to the undersecretary of the area, Abelardo Vázquez Ramos, the purpose is to strengthen the creative economy through public policies, talent training, and strategic projects that integrate academia and private initiative.

Currently, Baja California promotes eight sectors related to creativity and innovation: music, film, video games, digital platforms, fashion, design, gastronomy, and craft beverages.

With this commission, the state seeks to consolidate a model of inter-institutional collaboration that recognizes the economic and social value of culture and the creative industries.
