New Mexico Governor joins US delegation at COP30

New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is participating in the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Brazil. She is part of a delegation of more than 100 local leaders from the United States attending the summit’s Local Leaders Forum.

The delegation, organized by the America Is All In, Climate Mayors, and U.S. Climate Alliance coalitions, seeks to highlight the role of cities and states in fulfilling the country’s international commitments. Local initiatives that promote emissions reduction, green job creation, and lower energy costs will also be presented.

Lujan Grisham is joined by Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, and Gina McCarthy, executive co-chair of America Is All In. Among the scheduled activities was a press conference in Rio de Janeiro on November 3, where the U.S. Climate Alliance’s 2025 Annual Report was presented, with the latest results on pollution reduction and economic growth linked to the energy transition.

On November 4, also in Rio de Janeiro, the forum “The United States Fully Committed” was held, where state and municipal leaders discussed strategies to meet the objectives of the Paris Agreement and maintain international cooperation despite internal challenges. Subsequently, on November 11, the governor will participate in Belém, during COP30, in the panel “U.S. Climate Leadership in Action,” which will bring together government, academic, and private sector representatives.

The delegation will also be advised by specialists in international climate policy, including Todd Stern, Trigg Talley, and Genevieve Maricle, who will collaborate in strengthening ties and commitments with other participating countries.
