Union Pacific Railroad has launched construction on a major new logistics and industrial development spanning approximately 2,000 acres near Houston, Texas. The project is designed to strengthen supply chain infrastructure and support industrial growth in one of the United States’ key freight corridors.
The planned park will include roughly 1,300 acres of rail-served land directly connected to Union Pacific’s main rail line, alongside 700 additional acres dedicated to industrial and commercial uses without direct rail service. When complete, the development is expected to offer more than 20 million square feet of Class A industrial space, making it one of the region’s most significant logistics hubs.
Strategically situated near major highways such as U.S. 90, Highway 36, Spur 10 and Interstate 69, the site will provide efficient access to key population centers and international gateways, including border crossings at Laredo, Eagle Pass and El Paso. The location places the park within a 250-mile radius of more than 25 million consumers, offering strong market reach for businesses based there.
Infrastructure plans for the development include on-site facilities for rail car storage, regional drainage systems, water and wastewater services, and high-capacity gas access. These features position the site to meet diverse operational needs for manufacturers, distributors and logistics companies seeking integrated transport solutions.
By combining extensive rail connectivity with strategic highway access and significant industrial real estate capacity, the new industrial park is poised to become a key node for freight movement and economic activity in the Gulf Coast region.
