Ternium prepares to begin operations in new steel mill

Ternium’s new steel mill, located in Pesqueria, will begin operations toward the end of 2026 as part of the company’s third phase of expansion, according to the Ministry of Economy during a visit led by its head, Marcelo Ebrard.

The project is part of a comprehensive plan that includes an investment of US$4 billion in this phase, bringing the company’s total investment to US$7.5 billion.

This facility will enable the company to strengthen its production capacity for high-quality automotive steel, with a focus on more efficient processes and lower CO2 emissions per ton, operating under global sustainability standards.

The project involves the implementation of technology based on Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) and Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF), which will enable greater electrification of the production process compared to traditional blast furnace systems.

The commissioning of the new cold-rolling and galvanizing lines will enable the company to manufacture more sophisticated steels capable of meeting the most demanding technical specifications of the regional market.

According to Ternium, this project reaffirms the growth potential of the steel industry in Mexico and its capacity to produce high-value-added materials within the country.
