The export manufacturing industry in Chihuahua City has reinforced its role as a key economic driver after surpassing US$1.67 billion in total wages, highlighting its importance as a major source of formal employment.
According to industry data, companies operating under the IMMEX program reported a combined US$1.67 billion in labor-related payments during 2025. This figure reflects sustained growth in the city’s export-oriented manufacturing sector, which continues to expand its workforce and production capacity.
A closer look at the figures shows that the largest share—nearly US$1.17 billion —was allocated to direct salaries. Employer contributions accounted for approximately US$262 million, while social benefits exceeded US$235 million, underscoring a compensation structure that goes beyond base pay to include broader worker support.
These results highlight the sector’s impact not only on employment but also on overall economic activity. By generating stable, formal jobs, the export industry strengthens household income, boosts local consumption, and supports the development of related industries across the region.
Industry representatives have emphasized that the growth reflects ongoing efforts to improve productivity and maintain competitive labor conditions, helping position Chihuahua as one of Mexico’s leading manufacturing hubs.
The positive trend has carried into 2026. In January alone, the sector recorded more than US$141 million in wages, with salaries making up the majority share, signaling continued momentum at the start of the year.
With these figures, Chihuahua City continues to solidify its standing as a strategic industrial center, where export manufacturing plays a crucial role in driving economic growth and improving living standards.
