Kia Motors has not disclosed the models it will produce in Mexico, but it gave a preview of its next plant in Pesqueria, Nuevo Leon, enhanced with high-tech automation. The company opened its largest factory yet, in a 330 hectares area in Hwasung, West Seoul, almost half as large as the area of the Mexico plant. The Korean factory has around 300 robots which intervene in the assembly process. Every 1.14 minutes, a new car will be produced by each one of the three 2.5 kilometers long assembly lines. In total, an average of 150 cars per hour are produced, 80% of them are exported. About 13,000 Kia Motors´ employees work in this complex, and 350 Tier 1 suppliers are located nearby. The official production for Nuevo Leon was established at 300,000 vehicles, but Kia changed its plans and the production will be up to 400,000 per year.
