So far, Nuevo Leon has a portfolio of over 130 FDI projects in some negotiation stage. Once carried out those projects, the total amount could reach the US$6 billion, according to the Ministry of Economic Development (SEDEC) in Nuevo Leon. Fernando Turner, Head of SEDEC, said that most of those projects are related with the manufacturing, household appliances, automotive and aeronautics industries, as well as the production of heavy machinery, trucks, tools, etc. Most of the funds come from the U.S., as well as from China, Japan and some European and South American countries. On the other hand, Mr. Turner pointed out that the Hofusan project shows an important progress and that it will include an industrial park, a commercial area and a residential sector, with up to US$500 million value. This development was announced as a result of an alliance between investors from China and entrepreneurs from Nuevo Leon.
