The Ford plant in Hermosillo decided to reduce shifts for the Fusion and Lincoln MKZ vehicles production, while adapting its structure to manufacture the Focus from August onward, said the leader of the Ford workers’ union, Ricardo Martinez Herrera.
Three shifts have been closed since June due to a reduced demand in the U.S., the main market for these lines. This decrease prompted a 25% downfall in workers’ earnings. However, Martinez Herrera remarks that no lay-offs are currently under consideration, just a few production measures will be taken, such as closing a few shifts and have scheduled days off for certain areas of the company.
