The Kia plant in Pesqueria, Nuevo Leon, will start the production of the subcompact model Accent for Hyundai in Mexico in late July.
Pedro Albarran, Hyundai Motor Mexico’s General Director, said that the prospect is to make up to 100,000 Accent units in this plant, but the production will start with 20,000 vehicles for the Mexican market. Mr. Albarran added that the subcompact segment represents 30% of total national car sales, and that is why the company needs to have a model other than the Grand i10 to compete.
