With public and private investment valued at US$38 million, the construction works for the Innovation and High Technology Park (PIAT) of Sonora have started in this town. The local government is going to contribute resources valued at US$7 million to urbanize 220,000 square meters, 47,700 meters of roads and 14,700 meters of sidewalks, over a period of nine months, informed the state government. In the second stage, US$31 million will be allocated for the construction of entrepreneurial research centers, universities, public centers and equipment, with indirect investment from the private sector. There is a group of 10 national and foreign advanced manufacturing and industrial companies, information and communication technologies, mining, renewable energy, agri-food and biotechnology, companies as well as four universities, that have shown interest in investing on PIAT so far.
