TIJUANA – The construction of the Otay II sentry box, which would favor the crossing of merchandise produced by the maquiladora industry of the city, is a project in which work continues, and it is expected that this year there will be progress in this regard, according to Javier Castañeda Pomposos, federal deputy.
“Now we are in the final part of the studies; there is a part of the approved budget to continue with the purchase of the 35 hectares that would be used to develop the project,” said Castañeda Pomposos.
The purpose of building another international sentry box with the United States, responds to the need to transport merchandise produced by maquiladora companies in the region, with this, there would be an exclusive sentry box for the industry.
Without giving an exact date, the deputy explained that this is a first phase, so it is expected that in 2020 there will be another type of progress for the construction of the sentry box’s infrastructure, all depending on the time of budgets and permissions obtained.
