TIJUANA – Cross Border Xpress, the binational bridge between San Diego and Tijuana International Airport, plans a US$10 million investment to support traffic growth.
Nearly 290,000 travelers used the bridge in December, a 31% increase from the previous year, and officials are anticipating 18% to 20% growth over 2019 to an annual total of 2.7 million travelers.
Improvements planned include better air circulation, upgrades to customs infrastructure, expanded parking, and a reconfiguration of the departures lobby and restroom renovations.
Over the last four months, the Tijuana airport has added five new destinations: Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Tuxtla, Huatulco, Merida, and Loreto. The airport now serves more than 30 destinations in Mexico and China.
