MONTERREY – After a reduction since December 2018, Nuevo Leon’s manufacturing production recovered in February; however, exports and new orders remained in a contraction phase.
According to Reporte de Expectativas Económicas de la Manufactura, de la Cámara de la Industria de Transformación de Nuevo León (Caintra), the physical production volume index went from 49.86 points in January to 50.04 points in the 2nd month of the year.
“In the case of new orders, there was a decline with respect to January, which reflects a weakness in economic activity,” indicates the report.
However, the number of workers in the companies rose from 49.86 points in January to 51.20 in February, said the study conducted with 107 companies consulted between 4 and 11 March 2019.
One factor that could support this situation is the decrease in product prices, whose indicator went from 53.36 to 52.90 points in the analysis period.
It is worth noting that according to Nuevo Leon’s manufacturing rate, an indicator is considered to be expanding when it exceeds 50 points and is contracting below this number.
