SONORA – The poultry industry of Sonora has the highest health status in the country, which allows the state to export its products to the United States, assured Jorge Guzman Nieves, holder of Secretaría de Agricultura, Ganadería, Recursos Hidráulicos, Pesca y Acuacultura (Sagarhpa).
Guzman Nieves stressed that the poultry industry in the entity is free from Avian Salmonellosis, Newcastle Disease and Avian Influenza, including recognition by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as a Newcastle free region.
He added that this has been the result of years of efforts from producers as well as federal and state authorities and strong investments in biosecurity.
For his part the new president of Unión de Asociaciones Avícolas del Estado, Armando Robinson Bours Melis, emphasized the great effort and work developed by producers and authorities to achieve the sanitary status that poultry has at the national level.
