NUEVO LEON – Comisión Nacional del Agua (Conagua) and the Nuevo Leon government announced the construction of the Presa Libertad in the rural municipality of Montemorelos, which will solve the water supply problem to the metropolitan area of the entity.
In its first stage, the investment will be of US$40.7 million, which will be used for the purchase of 126 private lands and 90 ejido lands, as well as for the payment of the technical studies where the curtain of the dam will be located, 80 kilometers in the south of Monterrey.
The surface where the dam will be built, whose fluid will be exclusively used for human consumption, has a total area of 2,292 hectares.
“The project will begin in the second half of 2019 and will conclude in 2021,” said the governor of Nuevo Leon, Jaime Rodriguez.
