CIUDAD JUAREZ – The threats of closure of the border between Mexico and the United States by the government of Donald Trump have already affected the Mexican chemical industry, as their cargoes are stopped in warehouses or customs waiting to cross between the two countries.
According to the president of Asociación Nacional de la Industria Química (ANIQ), Eduardo Escalante, this is an interconnected sector, so anything that disrupts the flow of materials has an economic impact, however, at this time there is no specific amount.
“The effect has been important, with delays, with too much time of our materials sitting in warehouses or customs waiting to move, which has an impact on each of the members of the chamber,” assured the industry representative in an interview with Notimex.
