MONTERREY – Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transporte (SCT) and the government of Nuevo Leon, signed an urban mobility agreement, in order to build the railway corridor Garcia-Monterrey Airport for passengers, with an investment of US$682 million.
Javier Jiménez Espriú, head of SCT, along with the governor of the entity, Jaime Rodríguez Calderón, signed the agreement to expand the integrated system of the Metropolitan Area of Monterrey.
In addition, the agreement involves the release of 172 kilometers of railroad tracks of freight trains, which includes the construction of a light passenger train that in its first stage will go from Monterrey International Airport to the municipality of Garcia.
“Its implementation will increase the public rail transport network from 40 to 100 kilometers, in conjunction with the Metrorrey network,” stated Jiménez Espriú.
