CHIHUAHUA – According to data provided by the Mining Cluster, Chihuahua ranks third in gold production, second in lead and silver production, and fourth as a copper producer.
Currently, there are 64 companies that are considering new projects, of which 78% are Canadian and only 29% are from state territory. Likewise, there are 4,149 mining concession titles in the state.
In regards to general production, Chihuahua occupies third place in the country, contributing with 11% of the value of national production, which represent 2.7% of the state’s GDP.
On the other hand, the participation of women in this sector has increased considerably, from 4% in 2011 to 18% in 2018.
Currently, 20 of the 67 municipalities in the state register mining activity, which generates a possible significant impact on the social and economic development of these communities.
